Host Card/Board Testing
The need for high port density has led to smaller optical modules. As the optical module become smaller, some of the analog signal conditioning moves to the Host card. These 10G analog signals need to travel out of the module thru a connector and over, more than eight inches of FR4. EDC ICs on the host board will need to compensate for the dispersion and other degradations of the signal to enable the system to operate error free. Host board designs are about to get even more challenging, making testing imperative.
